The History of the Great White Way Bridal Salon

The "award winning" Great White Way Bridal Salon is located in Watertown, Connecticut,in the Beautiful Litchfield County. White Way was founded by Carmella "Mell" Buonauto in 1991, as a tiny accessory shop, situated within another retail store. From 1991 to 1999 the little shop grew into the largest accessory shop in Connecticut!

Within the first three years we took over occupancy of all four retail shops at the Main Street location. The entire shop became a Bridal Salon. Business has flourished ever since. Our tradition of "smiling service" and our dedication to those we serve has prompted our brides and other clientele to refer their friends and family members to White Way for bridal, bridesmaids, junior bridesmaids, flower girls, prom and social occasion dresses. Tuxedo rental, expert alterations, shoes, jewelry & accessories finish off our promise of full....smiling service. Our constant customer care efforts have been rewarded with regional clients voting White Way "Best of Weddings" in the Knot's on line annual award two years in a row...2008 & 2009/

In 1999 John Michael Mancini joined The Great White Way as a full partner. Bridal gowns were introduced into the mix, and within the first year the gown business all but took over the little shop. ("Mickey" resigned in 2007,due to circumstances beyond his control,  but his creative impact on White Way remains constant)  Our steady growth has propelled us into a one stop full service salon. The sad update to the story of a beloved partner, friend and colleague is that he passed away on May 14, 2008.  Mickey is missed and remains always in our hearts & prayers.
